2009 Reflections...
Jib-Jab:
2009 In Review:
2009 has been a strange ride. I started the year out working at O'ccurance, a job that I probably should have never had (sales), but most importantly I made a couple good friends and experience a some growth. Shortly after leaving there, I got an amazing position as a warehouse manager for a company called Crush Direct Response, or as it is currently known as Hyper Interactive Media or iHyper. I was on salary, had benefits and the job was just packaging getting things packaged up and going out. I was in charge of about 10 people or so. As for everything great, is was short lived

it did not last long. Eventually, the crew was cut down to 2 employees and myself. One Friday, at the end of the day... I was let go. I was able to get on unemployment though, a first for me. I have been employed for the most part since i was 16.
Also in 2009, my "Nana" (my Dad's mother) died. She has been very sick for quite a while with dementia. The last time I spoke with her was in 2004, when Sarah and I were on vacation and we were wanting to see here. Let's just say, the phone call was an experience. She left us an inheritance. With this inheritance, we remodeled our side of the duplex and had the roof redone (link coming soon).
We also purchased a car, paying it in full. It is very nice having both of our cars paid off.
During all this time I have also been attending school for Graphic Design at Eagle Gate College working towards my Associates, which I finish in Janury 2010. I am so excited to do this for a living!!!
Over the past months, I have been directing myself to get my freelance business going. I currently have a few clients that I am working with and am eager to get more.
Please stay tuned to find out what we happened to do tonight... Happy New Year!!!

Firstly, one of my best friends who I've known since high school, Joe Grisso got married today. Congrats!!!
Now, today was one of those crazy days...
Now, today was one of those crazy days...
- The Beatles: Rock Band, Part I: I went to our local Wal-Mart around 11:30 to get what they had available at Midnight. The reason I left early was to made sure I got something. I used to work at Media Play many years ago and Midnight Madness can be crazy!!! I went early for no reason... I was it. All they had available for the Wii was the Limited Edition Premium Bundle. They had no guitars available for the Wii at that location. It was late so I cam home... took a look in the box... and when to bed. After dropping Lennon (our son) to his Wednesday sitter, I proceeded to another Wal-Mart location that is close by. I was hoping to have found the guitars but I only found the John Lennon Wireless Rickenbacker 325 Guitar Controller which was good not great. I only had one more to find though. Next up, I went to another Wal-Mart location that was fairly close and came up with a big ole' goose egg. At this point it was approaching 9:00am, I decided to drive past a few places as I drive back home. Best Buy, Game Crazy, GameStop and Graywhale didn't open until 10am.
- I returned home and worked on some homework...
- Apple's "It's Only Rock & Roll" Event: As usual, if possible I follow this event through Engadget since it isn't broadcasted live. I like their coverage. Moving one to how I feel about the announcements.
(1) Steve Jobs: WELCOME BACK! Looking good! (Liver Transplant) (Organ Donor) (2) iPhone OS 3.1: App organization is working for me yet. So... moving on. (3) iTunes 9: iTunes redesign, as a graphic designer I get a little excited to see when major companies do redesigns of their websites and/or products. That being said, There are a few things that bug me (read here soon...) but over all very nice. Apple also announced some amazing new features through iTunes, most notable is the iTunes LP feature. With iTunes LP, when you purchase the album it comes with all the liner notes included in the standard disk you would receive when you purchase it along with some other materials called extras (videos, etc...) this will also be available on movies from iTunes also. (4) iPods: (a)iPod Touch: Price reduction on 8 GB, new 64GB announced. No camera... (b) iPod Nano: Video camera, larger screen, FM radio. ...Nice announcements all around. I think we were all hoping for iPod Touch camera, iTablet(?) and The Beatles in iTunes announcements. I think some if not all of these will be announced within the next year. (Apple.com - Video) - The Beatles: Rock Band, Part II: After lunch and some errands, I was back on the trail for the final guitar, George Harrison's Wireless Gretsch Duo-Jet Guitar Controller. I stopped by the Game Crazy, due tomorrow. I then returned to the Best Buy, I drove by earlier... No Guitars. They were playing The Beatles Remastered Discs. I next visited the GameStop, no luck but they called a different location who had it. The set is now complete. Back home to assemble everything.
- After doing some more homework, watching Days Of Our Lives (i really need to find a job don't I) and yardwork, I decided not to go to school. Of course I wanted play Rock Band with Sarah & Lennon. Before we did that though... We all went to Lennon's gymnastics class. He was very crazy tonight.
- The Beatles: Rock Band, part III: After a very rough start, we learned Sarah ROCKS and I need practice... Stay tuned to the MazzWiiOtti blog for updates...

For Sarah's birthday back in February, I REALLY dropped the ball. After much thought and guilt, i finally decided to make it up to her last night. She was able to get the second half of work off. So we meet at the TRAX station around Noon. Which we rode to The Gateway mall, where we visited numerous jewelry stores (Sarah) and the Apple Store (Dylan). While we were at Morgan Jewelers, I bought Sarah a beautiful ring (Thanks, Kacy). After shopping, we went to the food court and got food from Taco Time.
Following lunch, we went to the Megaplex Theatres to see Harry Potter VI (Half-Blood Prince). Another great one!!!
Following the movie, we went to one of our favorite resturants P.F. Chang's for dinner.
Next on the agenda was the Gallery Stroll, which I did a poor job planning for...
We still went to a few galleries and it wasn't horribly unenjoyable.
Now for the ultimate butt-kissing moment of the evening, the carriage ride. Carriage For Hire is a company that has carriage rides throughout downtown Salt Lake. We were "driven" around by my friend Lisa (blog), who I met volunteering for the Sundance Film Festival.

Dylan John Mazziotti: 34
Today, I turned 34 years old. Not exactly sure what that means or if it's a major milestone or what... But, in case you were wondering, I worked during the day and went to the 311 concert at USANA Ampitheatre.
